Consumer Advice
Service Life of Components
Each component of a bicycle (wheels, frame, handlebars, tires, etc.) has a service life. Factors influencing service life include:
- Rider technique
- Rider weight and strength
- Maintenance practices
- Construction and materials
- Type of riding
- Cleaning agents used
- Impacts, falls, and wear
Inspecting Your Wheels
For safety, we recommend having a qualified mechanic frequently inspect all parts of your bicycle for:
- Micro-cracks
- Cracks
- Wear
- Corrosion
- Deformation
- Paint damage
- Dents
- Any signs of potential problems
Using visual enhancers like penetrant fluid is recommended, as some issues may not be easily visible.
Replacing Parts
Any part showing signs of wear, fatigue, or damage should be replaced immediately to minimize the risk of accidents and serious injuries.
Stay Safe While Riding
Riding a bicycle carries inherent risks, which can increase due to:
- Improper maintenance
- Lack of frequent inspections
- Poor visibility
- Nighttime riding
- Adverse weather conditions
We strongly recommend:
- Regular maintenance and inspections by an experienced mechanic
- Wearing a suitable helmet
- Using high-visibility cycling clothing
- Equipping your bike with lights and rear-view mirrors
While these precautions are important, they cannot eliminate all risks entirely.
